PORTSMOUTH -- The store may have been filled with jewelry, but police say someone who tried to rob Jewelry Repair & Design Saturday just wanted money.

Detective Misty Holley said the robbery attempt at the Jewelry Repair and Design in the 6200 block of Portsmouth Boulevard took place shortly before 11:15 a.m.

Detectives said a man entered the store and acted like he wanted to buy something. He then showed an employee a gun and asked for money.

Holley told 13News Now he did not get any money. He left the business and ran towards Hodges Ferry Road.

According to detectives, the suspect rode to the business on a green Huffy Mount Vernon mountain bike and was carrying a blue Jansport backpack on his back.
