Hawaii Jewelers Win Awards

Contests honor new designs in cultured pearl jewelry, colored gem jewelry and earrings

 

The Hawaii Jewelers Association recently honored winners of its three jewelry design contests, one each for cultured pearl jewelry, colored gemstone jewelry and earrings.

Cultured Pearl Jewelry
	First PlaceCathleen Bunt Kathleen Bunt Fine Art Jewelry, Kihei, Maui“Madonna,” an 18k gold enhancer with four Tahitian cultured pearls from 9.4mm to 9.8mm, a 3.1-ct. pink tourmaline and 0.70 carat of diamonds. The accompanying necklace has six Tahitian cultured pearls ranging from 9.2mm to 9.6mm and is set with 0.55 carat of diamonds.
	Second PlaceKarla Brom The Rainbow Collection, Honolulu“Naupaka Suite,” an 18k gold Naupaka flower pendant and earrings featuring Chinese freshwater cultured pearls.
	Third PlaceDouglas Glenn Kamuela Goldsmiths, Kamuela“Volcano Over Snow,” an 18k gold and platinum necklace with 4.13 carats of rubies, 1.56 carats of diamonds in 18k-tipped platinum flames and a 13mm white South Sea cultured drop pearl cooling the volcano’s flames.
	Peoples ChoiceKaren Keit Black Pearl Kauai, Koloa, Kauai“The Sky is the Millennium,” an 18k yellow and white gold slide pendant with 0.21 carat of diamonds and a 14mm round Tahitian black cultured pearl.

 

Colored Gem Jewelry
First PlaceEric Vogt The Goldsmith Gallery, Kapaa, Kauai“Fire Bird,” an 18k gold pendant containing a 23.97 opal carved by the designer and channel-set with 0.13 carat of diamonds.
Second Place, People’s ChoiceDavid Sacco Master Touch Gallery, Makawao, Maui“Shields of Tanzanite,” an 18k gold and platinum neckpiece set with tanzanite and diamonds, accented with bezel-set sapphire and baguette diamonds.
Third PlaceMarilyn Hively The Goldsmith Gallery, Kapaa, Kauai“Emerald Isle,” an 18k gold and platinum pendant featuring a 3.94-ct. emerald and 0.46 carat of diamond pavé.
